How To See What Pages Are Indexed On Google

how to set up linkedln business pages

Google processes over 3.5 billion searches per day, making it the go-to resource for individuals seeking information, products, or services. By having your website indexed on Google, your business gains the opportunity to appear prominently in search results, significantly increasing online visibility. This exposure opens doors to a wider audience, driving organic traffic to your website and increasing the likelihood of attracting potential customers.

If you’re curious on whether or not Google knows about your website, here is an easy way to see what Google has indexed. Simply go to google.com and type in site:www.yourdomain.com (except replace yourdomain with your actual domain name).

Cool. Pages Are Indexed. Now What?

Go through and check out all the pages. If you notice ones that you don’t want to show on Google, you can alter the Robots.txt file or go through your settings in WordPress and change it. If you imported demo content with your theme, you may notice a bunch more pages are on your website than you ever knew. For example, demo content might have been imported into areas such as Posts, Portfolios, FAQs, etc. If you don’t want those showing, feel free to just delete those inside WordPress if you’re not using them.

If you’re using SEO plugins, such as Yoast, you may want to go in and check to see what types of pages you have in your sitemap. If there’s certain pages that you don’t want indexed (such as author pages) you can adjust this through the Yoast plugin.

It’s also a good idea to scan through your titles and descriptions of your pages. Are they enticing enough to click? Or does your About page just say ‘About’ with no other keywords relating to your business? If that is the case, I’d recommend making these more SEO friendly which you can do easily with Yoast Plugin.

What If None of My Pages Are Indexed On Google?

If Google returns no results, then Google has not found out about your website yet. If your website has just been launched, then wait a day or two. Otherwise if it still isn’t showing, I’d recommend creating and submitting a sitemap to Google on Google’s Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools).

Also make sure to check your WordPress settings. In WordPress, go to Settings > Reading > and make sure the checkbox to ‘discourage search engines from indexing this site’ is unchecked.
